SURFACE HEAT TREATMENTS

Omnia Press performs surface thermochemical treatments according to working conditions and to the different client needs.

  • Gaseous nitriding with a 30-hour cycle and depth of 0.15-0.20 mm. or with a 90-hour cycle and a depth of 0.20-0.40 mm.
  • Ionic nitriding in order to obtain a surface layer with hardness of 1050 Hv and with a depth variable from 0.2 to 0.5 mm. The result is a white, homogeneous, compact and strong surface with high anti-seizure properties and a high wear-resistance against siliceous inclusions of the aluminium alloy. Such a treatment is performed in vertical furnaces for a better deformation control.
  • Surface treatment with NipreŽ in order to obtain an iron oxide layer with an hardness value of 850-900 Hv, a high chemical inertia and a strong repellency against aluminium alloys (see enclosure 2).
  • Surface treatment with NipreŽ Duplex in order to obtain a double 0.20-0.25 mm. hardening layer and a 4-5 micron of magnetite.

If required it is possible to supply the heat treatment certificate obtained from a GDS 750 digital quantometer and order to check the type treatment and the thickness of the coating layer.

SHOT-SLEEVE WITH LOADING HOLE SUPPLIED WITH A PLUNGER PROTECTING ARC

The loading hole is always developed with a rectangular shape in order to make the tapping easier; the side on which the plunger is active is rounded: in this way the plunger does not get damaged by hitting the haunch, but, on the contrary, during its stroke, it hits against many different progressive points, thus making its life longer.

THERMO-REGULATED SHOT-SLEEVE

The shot-sleeve thermoregulation is obtained via a diathermic oil flow connected with a circuit. The temperature is controlled by means of a central unit which keeps the oil temperature at the constant level of 200°C. The circuit can be installed on low side of the shot-sleeve with 2 or 4 holes, in the material falling zone or up to the neck. Such a technology allows to delay the shot-sleeve wear, as it minimises the thermal shocks during each injection phase,

it prolongs the life of the hardened surface and does not alter the steel internal structure.

In order to improve such a concept, Omnia Press produces shot-sleeves with an integral thermoregulation on the whole hole and length. This technology controls the hole deformations and the steel working temperature to obtain a constant injection with a specified speed and pressure.

All the thermo-regulated shot-sleeves have:
  • Special support influence by outside temperatures in order not to be influenced from the outside (machine fixed shoulder and die fixed section) and to make the mounting procedure easier;
  • An inlet and outlet point for the oil flow according to the different needs;
  • If required, two thermocouples to control the instantaneous temperature of the working phases can be installed;
